If i had to guess it's your digital right management that's doing it.
When you play a song and 100MBs are being used kill the following process in taskmanager and see if that does it: C:\WINDOWS\System32\MsPMSPSv.exe you could also do a little cleaning up of yuor HJT log, check these for sure: O23 - Service: ColdFusion MX Application Server - Unknown owner - C:\CFusionMX\runtime\bin\jrunsvc.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: ColdFusion MX ODBC Agent - Unknown owner - C:\CFusionMX\db\slserver52\bin\swagent.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: ColdFusion MX ODBC Server - Unknown owner - C:\CFusionMX\db\slserver52\bin\swstrtr.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: Symantec Core LC - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe (file missing) This too if you don't recognise it: O16 - DPF: {4D7F48C0-CB49-4EA6-97D4-04F4EACC2F3B} (InstallShield Setup Player 2K2) - http://sib1.od2.com/common/Member/C...2/OCI/setup.exe

Ok byteman, i did what u said and got rid of those.
About the media player thing.... this slowness has never happened before in the two years of me owning this computer.... it shouldnt be starting now unless there is a fault somewhere along the lines. Well i played a song and then that stoped, then i played another song and the memory usage went up, so then i did what u said and terminated the file u said, still the same.... I have no clue whats up.... |

Drastik... I used to have a compaq with XP SP2 with 256MB ram also, when i frst got it, it ran games pretty good, after i had it for a while, it started to go really slow, and i mean really slow, i couldnt play cs or any other games (except age of empires) I reformatted my comp, and it was still as slow as before. My guess could be that a piece of hardware is slowly dieing, how old is your computer and what make?
