Default Can't open additional hard drive

So here's the deal. I have 2 hard drives, one runs the os and the other is used for storage. The os hard drive crashed about a month and a half ago and I replaced it, reinstalling Windows XP. I didn't touch the other drive during this process. Windows recognizes that the drive is there and running, but when I try and access the files Windows wants me to format the drive. Also, the drive is set up as IDE/ATA, but Windows is showing it as SCSI in disk management. I've tried messing with the jumpers and reinstalling drives, and I even put the drive in another computer, but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds to me as if your seconday drive also got somehow damaged whent he first one crashed. You can try some partition recovery software to see if it recovers the partition or see if a linux boot disc can read the drive. It is also likely your IDE controller maybe damaged as well.
