Ive heard good things about the powershot a590is. It seems though that most camers in this class are relatively the same. So things that you should know are that megapixals dont matter and they dont make the picture clearer. In fact the more mp could make the picture more noisy. So having more mp should not be considered an upgrade. The main thing to look for is its zoom range. All these cameras take very similiar pics but thier zoom is different so pick the one with the greater zoom. essentially thats the only difference you will find (for picture quality) between a $100 P&S and a $200. hav fun shopping

I have a Cannon Powershot a590 and it's a great camera. I love the Cannon series cameras of all prices. One thing that is always great about them is they have good glass lens and good CMOS sensors which is the biggest factor on picture quility.
