You should definitely go with the DVD+-R Burner. The 16x means it burns at 16 speed which is the fastest currently available for burning DVD+-Rs and DVD+-RWs. Such drives can burn on BOTH DVD+-Rs/RWs and CD-Rs and CD-RWs. There is no need for some other combo drive at all as this can do everything you would need.

). As far as CDs, depends on what your burning. For regular data, it don't matter for me. fastest is fine. but for games I burn at 4x also.

16X Max DVD burning speed
48/52 Max CD burning speed BUT! Never burn at maximum. On DVDs as Praetor suggests a speed of 2X is most suitable to get a "flawless" copy. On CD-Rs when considering audio you should burn nice and slow (Probably 4x would be my choice). When burning data on a CD-R, a higher speed below 16X should be fine in my personal opinion. Take this as personal preference. JAN
