Hi, I really need the help of some pros out there!
I have a GA-8SMMLP Motherboard with an onboard graphics process by SiS, the SiS 650GX. It never used to beep till recently when I began playing this free online MMORPG. (before this MMORPG i played the demo of UT2004) Since playing this MMOPRG, the CPU beeped after a while of playing so i deduced that it must be due to the graphics intensity that is overheating the graphics processor. I downloaded this program called SpeedFan, and the machine beeps everytime 'Temp2', which i assumed to be the graphics, reaches 40deg C. Just today, I bought another graphics card, ATi Radeon 9250 128mb to add onto the AGP slot. No disabling of the onboard graphics was required and the new graphics card was instantly recognised. I tested UT2004 again, raising some of the texture details etc, and it began to beep again! I checked Temp2, and it was 40deg C. What is the problem now, and how should i solve it? (I intend to clean out the dust on the inside in the next week to see if it helps, but is there any other way?) Thanks in advance! Last edited by ackerleytng; 06-05-2005 at 04:32 PM. |

Cleaning it out should help a bit... And try to find what temp2 is, don't just assume. Onbard or AGP video, your chipset(where your onboard video also probably comes from) would probably get rather hot so it wouldn't suprise me if that was in fact the problem. Do you have a fan on your chipset? Also, 40C is rather low. 50 should be ok with most chips. Now if Temp2 is your case temp, we might need smoe more airflow O.O

When you install a video card, onboard kicks down automatically
The only time messiness happens is if you install an AGP card and still have the PCI IRQ allocated and try to install a PCI video card (god that would be a crazy mess)

I am about to clean it out now...
Anyway, how do i find out what temp2 is? And i think it differs between motherboards. On my motherboard (i checked with gigabyte) it automatically detects the new Radeon. Anyway, Radeon is working well except the beep. (I could tune up certain graphics that i couldn't before) Btw, my bios has this CPU overheat warning, which is set to 60deg. |

OH YAH! Temp1 wasn't stated to be CPU temp. I assumed that as well. But, because Fan1, the only fan i have in the comp is connected to CPU, i assumed that Temp1 = CPU
While i am typing this, Temp1 is 42, Temp2 is 25 and HD0 is 46 |

I believe that the temp you are getting is the chipset. Make sure you watch the quick sequence of detection of speedfan at startup.
