Default Buying new speakers

ok i just destroyed my old cheap speakers ( too much bass ) so i need to buy new speakers
i would like a 5.1 or at least 3 parts system( 1sub 2speakers)
what do i have to check? what are the imporant specs i sould look at?

go to a place where you can test them, then it would be better for you to decide what you like. or just use your home stereo, thats what i do. (240 watts oh yeah!)

Best 2.1 system around are the HK Soundsticks and they look so funky as well!!!
