Question Computer hard drive died

well the title says it all and i have a few questions
on our home computer we had a 400GB HD with with tons of valuable files and software and now its all gone.

but the stuff im most worried about is our Adobe Master collection software. it was like +$2000 worth of software and it was on our home computer and our other computer at my dads work(both are vista). And now the installation discs for our Adobe Master Collection are nowhere to be found!!!

we are thinking about installing the HD from my dads work on to our home computer, but we are not sure if this will work. Or if we could copy the software files onto another HD and install that HD on our home computer.

so if anyone knows anything about this please help.
