Default How many Watts?

Is there a way to find out how many watts my computer can put out? I have onboard sound so I'm sure it's nothing good. I will be having a party and was going to wire a speaker outside to my computer, just don't know how much power my system is capable of.

I only have a set of headphones believe it or not . I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of stuff. Like I said, I'd like to put a speaker out on my deck for this party. Maybe someone can reccommend something good, I'm not sure what I need. I can wire it through my window to my computer where I have all of my music. I'm not sure what my computer can handle.

What kind of budget do you have? If its a deck party, 5.1 surrounds may not be the best route (although you can run 5.1s in 2.1 mode so thats something to consider)

depending on your budget what you really want is some edirol speakers, these are the kind of things that artists use, they are small speakers, similar to bookshelfs, but they have an in built amplifier that is really good, also they run to a 3.5" jack which is the standard output via every souncard bar none. In term of power which i dont think is a very good judge of speaker ability they are rated at 25W, which if you consider that constant power is bloody good. I hooked a pair up last year with my mini ipod before investing in some soundsticks, only because i wanted a nice subwoofer to look at. Anwyway i'm missing the point, don't be put off by 25W, m front 2 ruark speakers that i run with a £3000 Naim amplifier set-up run around 100W and they can crack the plaster (which they have done 3 times) if i get fiesty with the amp. The price well its round £90, but i saw some go for £65 on eBay from a well known seller. Cheap if you compare to the £2500 tag on my Ruarks lol. Hope this helps and i will try to get the cose for you soon as...

Cheers

Sorry my mistake they run several ranges from small 10W to 20W, these will blow your mind!!! Trust me!!!! I have a nephew who has spent 6 years as a professional installer of audio visual systems, he teaches me everything he knows. More info at http://www.edirol.com/products/speakers.html you buy these people will ask you what they are!! And if you are running them through a seperate amplifier!!!

Cheers

Thanks...however I'm in the US. I really would only like one speaker. I obviously have to research more to find what I exactly need.

Here's the thing. I know NOTHING about speakers. I don't even have any, just use headphones. I don't know how much these things cost...can you give me an idea of how much a decent speaker would cost? Plus, I have Onboard sound so is it worth it to buy a good speaker if the quality will be limited?
