Question Max supported RAM on Acer Aspire 4720Z

I thought my laptop could accept up to 4GB of ram, but now I read online at the acer support site that it only accepts 2GB of ram max. I know Vista 32bit will only use 3.25GB of ram, and I would just like replace one of my 1GB sticks with a 2GB stick to make 3GB. Anyone got any ideas?
