Default Hard drive problem

I just bought a western digital hard drive with product number WD1600AAJS. They did not send me a disk with any drivers on it but when I try to install windows it says it does not recognize any hard drives. I am assuming I need to install the third party software. Does anyone know where I can download these drivers. The western digital site wasn't very helpful and a general search on google didn't really give me any results.

What motherboard are you using? Or is it an OEM machine like HP or Dell? That is a SATA drive and most likely you are trying to install XP from an old install cd or you have an old motherboard that requires the sata controller driver installed at the F6 prompt at the beginning of windows installation.

I built it like 4 years ago, I don't remember what the motherboard is and I'm at work or I'd look. I figured I needed to install the sata controller driver but they never sent me a disk with it on there. I still have my disk from when I built the computer and I got my first drive but when they ask me to put it it and I do so and hit enter like it says it waits for a second then asks again for me to insert the third party disk. The floppy drive is brand new so i don't think there is anything wrong with it. I just wondered if maybe I needed a different driver and that is why it kept asking me.

Would need to know what motherboard you have. Floppies do go bad so you might have to put the drivers on a new one.

Search the sata controller driver at motherboard manufacturer website.

It's an ABIT motherboard, I just remembered that today, I dont remember what model though. I haven't even had time to look at the computer since I posted. I should get some time tomorrow.
