Default CPU-Z Reading for Memory

DRAM Frequency is 800mhz Isn't that really slow?

If you enable speedstep its normal. When idle or low workload, the pc will lower cpu and ram frequency to save energy.
Mine also like that when i enable cool'n'quite with even lower dram frequency 200mhz and cpu 1000mhz.

If it's showing 800MHz your RAM isn't running at PC20000 (does that even exist yet?) but it is running at DDR3-1600 speeds. I'm thinking you may have DDR3-2000 which is PC3-16000

How are you sure that it's running at DDR3-1600 speeds?

ANd you're correct... I meant DDR3 2000 PC16000.

I'm assuming you are looking at the memory tab (see below). The speed there is the real speed so you need to double it to get the DDR speed.

To get your RAM to run at DDR3-2000, you need to go into the BIOS and manually configure it. Your manual should tell you how to do it if it's not obvious by the BIOS menus.

Yep! That's definitely it!

When I clock my memory @ 2000, the PC won't bootup properly. Apparently, 790i boards need to have their memory sticks in the black slots to run at DDR3 2000. I did that, but then my PC wouldn't run right. So I just put them back in the other slots and presto, runs beautifully again.

You probably need to up the voltage to run it at 2000 but 1600 is pretty fast

Newegg has it specified @ 1.9v. My bios' system monitoring says it's at 1.5v. Does that mean I can kick it right up to 1.9v?

OCz lists it at 1.8v but 1.9v should be fine. Your EVGA 790i board should support the EPP programmed into it as well, do you have an option to enable EPP in the BIOS? That should have it set up the timings and voltages and what not for you. If not, you can always set it manually to 9-9-9-30 and 1.8v or 1.9v.

I do have the option and I keep it enabled so I can unlink the CPU/Memory otherwise I have bootup issues @ 3.5ghz. For some reason I read that my board requires I put my memory into the black slots (2 and 4) vs what I have them in now (slots 1 and 3 (gray)).

But when I put them into the black slots and even when I put my system voltages and clocks back to default, the PC still won't run correctly.

But I will try what you just said. I'll crank my memory voltages up to 1.8v and my frequency too 2000.

Are you good at overclocking CPUs as well? Because I can't seem to make my PC stable @ 3.6ghz. I am perfectly fine at 3.5ghz, but can't seem to get passed it. I have my multiplier at 8 and my frequency set at about 1750 I think. Which puts my clock at 3500mhz. It puts my memory at 1591mhz. If I crank my frequency to 1850, I go right to 3600mhz and my memory goes to 1600mhz. I stepped my voltage up maybe 5 clicks and it still wasn't stable. So I became quite afraid and just backed off to my last known good setup.
