I have a 160gb PATA with the OS on it and all other programs. I want to add 500gb SATA for storage. I have Dell optiplex gx270 and the manual is saying I have 2 SATA ports, so I want to use the newer technology for the new hdd. So do I have to change the jumpers on the PATA? Do I have to go into the BIOS to change anything? If so, a little help with that would be great. Also would I use the second SATA port for a DVD burner?
Here's a link to the manual showing the motherboard config., just scroll down to bottom of page: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...ut.htm#1185160 |

nope. the PATA drive should be set to boot first, and the SATA will automatically be slave (as will the dvd burner)
if you do have issues, just go into the BIOS, and change the boot order back to your PATA being first. |
