Default Wacky cpu temps

I set up my new computer yesterday and my cpu temps were usually below 30 degrees Celsius. Now I turned on my computer today and the temps are around 42 degrees in the CPU. I haven't overclocked the system, why have my temps changed?

what are you looking at the temps in? bios? bios is usally correct but once i ran into one that was wrong... maybe the temp is changing in the area around the computer?
42 is not bad, its considered normal, you might want to go get speedfan (search google for it) and see if it reads the temps the same

My pentium 4 2.8Ghz runs at just over 60 degrees all the time, i never hear a peep out of it and its 100% stable, i dont think temperature plays a main part in the wellbeing of a PC unless it gets stupidly high like 80-90 degrees

I ran speedfan and it gave me the same cpu temps. I am running an venice athlon 64 3200+ on an EPoX nForce 4 Ultra motherboard. Its just weird that the temperature changed overnight, however when I first started it up, I thought it was weird that the cpu temp was lower than the case temp, so maybe it was just a wrong reading.

Is that idle temp, and is that a prescott core? That is high!

Is it overclocked? Have you ran stability tests?

It does play a big part in wellbeing, and at 80-90 your processor is not going to hang around for too long. If 60+ is your idle temp then i wouldn't be supprised if 80+ is your temp under load.

Would keep a close eye on these if i were you.
