Default Sound is coming from both headphone and external speaker

Hi, friends I have recently bought a headphone, but as I connect it and play any MP3, I heard sound from headphone, but unfortunately from speaker too. I guess, as I switch headphone, speaker shall shut automatically. I want to hear sound from only headphone. Is there any problem in configuration please let me know with proper direction. Thanks in advance.

And yeah, I use Windows Xp service pack 2

It sounds like the auto-interrupt on the headphone port is not working or it isn't connected to the motherboard/soundcard properly. Your soundcard may not have this feature either, though that would be rare.

You can always turn off your speakers too.
