Default dual disc technology

i recently bought nine inch nail's newest cd, without teeth, in dual disc format. i was quite excited to get it in the dual disc format so that i could enjoy the 5.1 remastered DVD side. well, first of all let me tell you that i have had nothing but absolute trouble from this disc. when i put it into my head unit (sony cdx-m9900), everything worked fine, but when i took it out and put another (normal) disc in, it wouldn't feed the disc. this problem continues today. when i put the disc into my computer, the cd side of the disc won't even read, and i can't get my dvd-audio player to play it! i'm guessing all of this is for piracy, but i could be wrong. i can't rip the disc to my computer .. has anyone figured out a way?
