hey , i was woundering if there was a way to take a restore disk and some how get the windows version off of it and make it into a bootdisk, is there software for this?

Im not sure if I got you right but Drive Image from PowerQuest does the follwoing:
it allows you to create a backup of your whole OS + programs ( i.e. the whole C: drive for example and store it on D and it allows you to create boot disks for the program, lets say windows crashed and you can not get into the GUI...all you have to do is enter the boot disk... follow instructions... everything is allright...
