Default AVI Codec missing

I want to play an AVI file but it can't play it. I'm pretty positive it has something to do with my codecs installed. when I check my codecs with Codec sniper of Sherlock, it says no codecs are broken. CodecViewr v1.5 says the audio codec is "DVM" or "AC3" and the video codec: "Unknown FourCC : XVID".

any suggestions?

Got a codec site about halfway down this page

You can install either the Xvid Codec directly or better yet the ffdshow dshowfilter which is infinitely better

Or you can try VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ which doesn't require codecs
