is there any file system I can format a HDD to that will be read and writable on both OSX and Windows that supports larger than 4GB files?
OR what is the easiest way to share an external drive connected to a mac over a network to a PC?

doesn't support 4GB+ files.
Anyways, I did it the less painful way, I shared the drive from the mac so I can access it on the PC. The really really sad part was I had to download a program just so I could share an external drive in OSX.

Huh. I thought one of the "FAT" systems would support larger files.
