New Laptop and Extended Service Warranty/Protection Plan

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are looking into buying a laptop that I will be using while in graduate school and at home. We have dwindled down the choices to either a Gateway (MD7818u) or HP Pavilion (dv5-1235dx), both available at Best Buy (link below). My wife and I cannot decided which one to buy. So any opinions/advice would be appreciated. Also, an associate at best buy gave us his talk about the extended service/protection/warranty plan the Geek Squad provides for the laptop. Is it worth to get this plan? Thanks for the help!
