Problem Connecting A CD-ROM

I have a currently working DVD-RW Drive, but I want to add a CD-ROM Drive to my computer. When my DVD-RW Drive is connected to the primary and I connected the CD-ROM Drive as the Slave. And when I turn on my computer and go to BIOS, it says on the Primary "PLE@"(?) and on Slave "Not Detected". And when it goes to Windows, Theres is no Drive connected, only the floppy drive. I tried like 2 different cables and it's still the same.

Can anybody help me with this problem ASAP.

what is the jumper setting on your DVD-RW drive? is it set to master? you might try setting both drives to CSEL as well.

make sure in your BIOS you turn the second device on

Ok,
I have had problems like this too it could be that the pin-switch on the back of the drive(s) is set incorrectly. Make shure that the pin-switch is set to the right setting. If you want the BIOS to set the role put the pin switch on "cable select".
It could also be that the power is not plug is not in, that could mess it up.
It could also be that the cable is in upside-down. Make shure that the red wire on the ribbon cable is matching up with the 1 on the drive.
