I've had an AMD 1900 installed in my computer for quite a while. I decided to upgrade to an AMD 3000+ 333FSB. However, when I put it in, it will not post. There is no beep or anything. I cannot get to the bios, and the Mobo just plain doesnt do anything. Whenever I put back the original CPU, everything works fine. I've reset the Bios several times, and have even taken out the lithium battery. It just refuses to run.
I am not sure the CPU is any good. It is supposed to be brand new. The reason I can't get into the Bios is because as soon as you turn on the power, nothing happens. The lights on the keyboard don't even flash, no beeps, no anything. As soon as I put back the original CPU, everything is perfect. Do you think its just a bad CPU? (I heard that is rare) My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 1.04, and I flashed to the latest bios. PC3200 400Mhz. Please help, I am stuck! The only possible cause I see is that the new CPU is supposed to operate at 1.65V and the old one is set for 1.75V. In the bios, the lowest I can set the VCORE to is 1.75V. However that is when the old CPU is in there, that may be why I cant lower it anymore. Help! Thanks in advance. -Brad

Make sure the jumper is set to FSB 333/266 when you use the 3000+.

Hmmm....did you align it correctly (the golden triangle towards sign)? That is the only thing that comes to my mind. I very much doubt that the processor could be dead.
