start up problem

i just installed mcafee virus scan, norton 2005, and counterspy in normal mode. then i rebooted the computer and it freezes. however it does not freeze in safe mode. does anyone know any troubleshooting for this? i turned off system restore because i was going to run some virus/spyware scanners in safemode.

try to boot with a bootable CD ROM. Try uninstalling Norton 2005. I beleive that is root of your problems.

at least try that first.

Unistall all these programs you installed. Try to install them one by one to determine which one is causing the problems you are having (unistall in safemode). My guess is also with Norton 2005. Good luck.

i can only boot in safemode and its not letting me uninstall anything

that's why I said try to boot from a CD.

1. Put CD in drive
2. Restart machine
3. If you have to, go into BIOS, look for the options to change the boot order and make sure the CD drive has a higher priortiy than the harddrives
