Default DVD RW Burns Jerky Movies

Hi. I've used my NEC DVD RW to burn literally hundreds (well maybe around 90) movies. No problem. Then I watched one on my dvd player that was jerky, like every 2 seconds the screen froze for a split second then continued. I put it down to a bad download, but then someone else reported itto whom I have the DVD to and then I tried another film and the same thing happened. What could this be? Could it be a loose wire or just hardware failure.

Help appreciated!
