I have an A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I had bought a computer with that motherboard, and it had GEIL 512x2 DDR-SDRAM ( http://www.geilusa.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=19 ).
I bought Corsair ValueSelect 512x2 RAM ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3650495 ). The motherboard site says both those RAMs are supported. I plugged the new RAM into the 2nd and 4th slots (the only ones that were open), but when I started the PC they didn't work. I still only had 1 gig of ram, even though I could see all the details about it in SiSoft Sandra's mainboard information. Since then I tried putting them in every position possible, and I can't get 2 gigs. Can I even do it or do they not work together? I need help, thanks a lot. |

I think we are facing a different issue here. I suppose you are using a non-Venice core Athlon64. As a result, it is not possible to run 4 full slots of memory at the full 400Mhz. It's a known limitation of the older Athlon64s. You may want to try and lower the frequency of ram to lets say 333Mhz and then add the extra 2 memory sticks. I hope that this will solve your issue. You may need to go even lower with the frequency in order to get them to work properly.

thia could also be caused by the two types of ram using different voltage settings, you could try bumping up the voltages to see if that makes a difference

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't know how old the A8N-SLI Deluxe is though. It doesn't say anything about limitations in the manual.
The site says : Memory - 4 x 184-pin DIMM Sockets support max. 4GB DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 ECC/ non-ECC un-buffered DDR SDRAM memory - Dual Channel Memory Architecture Also, how do I change the voltages? Last edited by mrmojo; 06-19-2005 at 12:36 PM. |

i dont know much about this board but i would imagine there's a section in the bios where you can adjust the voltages... have look at the manual and see what it says
