Default Building gameing PC

Still debateing if I should buy a PC or build one. Well came to the conclusion to build one but need alittle help if it all will work.

My peices:

MotherBoard - AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Newcastle Integrated into Chip FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 754

Memory- 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel kit

HardDrive - Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JD 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA150

Video - BFG Tech BFGR68256OCX Geforce 6800 256MB 256-bit DDR PCI-Express x16

Processor - MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

cost: 824.12$ (includeing WindowsXP home ) - Have DVD/CDRW off old machine ect

Did a few researches to check if most or all these products are capatible to run as a team. Its kinda hard to determine without the individual products booklets at hand. Only concerned about is the processor capatible with the motherboard? I'm leaning to the yes side but could use another opinion.

Socket 939 motherboard needs a socket 939 cpu. The two you chose are not compatable with each other.

mgoldb2 is right that cpu will not fit in that boards

that mobo choice is good
personally i would choose a amd64 3200 and then oc it up. This will save you a pretty penny

but if you want to choose a processor of similar spec and price then choose the amd64 3500 whincheter (overclocking option are good here too)

You might actually want to consider getting an SLI board, since your getting the 6800, in the future you can get another 6800 and "hook them together" and pretty much double what you already had (ex, core speed, memory speed, pipelines, and memory).

And just a note, your motherboard and processor are switched around.

Default yes

The SLI option is one thing to consider but another is whether you will be able to get an identical card in the future. That's one of the requirements for SLI. As to the processor I would also rather choose a 3200+ and push it up slightly as to be safe.

If SLI was a feasible option do you really think (1) there would be a debate for buy/build or (2) he'd be getting a 3400+ class processor?

Also, if you're getting a S754 processor, dont bother with a dual channel kit since it doesnt support dual channel
