pentium 4 are known to perform better with video editing, multimedia stuff. any multithreaded application since HT has 2 virtual processors

Yup, as a general rule AMD's are better for gaming. P4's are usually better for working with, like having 4 different Office apps open and editing your holiday [pics in photoshop.
