Default System Idle Process Problem

Some of my programs keep freezing (especialy real media player), so I did ctrl-alt-delete to end the program. then i went to processes and system idle process jums up to 98 or 99% of cpu usage even though it only uses 20k of phisical ram. Can somone help me fix it??? Also this only happens about half the time on the computer and it realy drags it to a halt. Plz help!

the system idle process will always be at 90 - 100 when the computer isnt doing anything, but that doesnt mean that ur cpu is at 100% , click the performace tab and if ur cpu is at 100% or close to it some programs that you are runing might cause that, and spyware, go get a spyware remover and scan your system or try to close every thing that ur doing and see if its still at 100%

System Idle Process is suppose to read 95-99% CPU time when only windows and other light tasks are running. Programs freezing is unrelated to system idle.

System Idle Process doesn't use any CPU power, it is a reading of how much time your CPU isn't using (aka it is idling). If this process didn't exist (such as with windows 95) your CPU would be running at full power all the time and making a lot of heat

system idle shows how much of your cpu you have available to you, if your doing nothing at all the system idle process is usually around the 99 percent mark
hijackthis is a free virus scanner by the way, you can post hijackthis logs on the internet to let people see if there may be something wrong with your computer
