Default Need some advice.....................

Hi all,newbie to the forum.Not sure if this post is in correct place but here is my question;

I like to use the Line Input to the back of my PC (its an old one,windows ME not connected to net or other-standalone) to record songs on to the hardrive by using Nero Wave Editor version 1.0

Now when i do record the input the hard drive plays it back and i can save it etc.

The problem is,when i play it back straight after having recorded, the recording has 1 or two skips in it at random points of the recording.(similar to a cd jumping) so what could be wrong?

I know its an old system but it is fine in every way.I put a 160gb hard drive in it and upgraded the memory a while ago.

If i were to watch youtube videos on the pc concerned,the videos stutter a bit and it isnt enjoyable watching,its as though the computer is trying to read ahead faster than its downloading.-just thought i would add this bit incase its connected.

I have a decent knowledge of computers.

any help would be great.

Typically thoses skips are caused when the computer doesn't record the live sound for a second because the sound card can't keep up. Alot of PCs with on board sound just aren't good at sound recording. A lot of older (and some newer) PCs have the same issue your having for seemingly no real reason. They should be able to record just fine but don't. You can do a fresh install, updated to the lastest drivers and still you get the same thing. The only things that I think may help is lowering the capture settings to 16bits @ 44.1kHz (CD Spec) or get an add-on sound card. Hope this is of some help to you.
