Is it a exspansion sound card/using a PCI slot? or is it sown into motherboard?
If it`s a PCI one then i`d take it out and connect it again and make sure it`s connected properly, and then if it came with a driver install that. But make sure the computer is off before you take it out.

You will need to find out what sound card you have or onboard and install the drivers, if there is one for Vista/Windows7
