Default HDD Compatibility

I have a really old hard drive that was a secondary drive for Windows 98. I currently use Windows XP and I recently bought an external casing for this drive. I plugged it in and it doesn't show up.

It shows up under Hardware Profiles but its not listed under My Computer. I would like to try to extract the data somehow before formatting it for Win XP. This old external HDD is full of data. About 80/160GB full. Thanks in advance.
