Default vista cannot find my hard disk

recently i had lost all my contents on the hard drive so i format my whole hard drive
all of a sudden when am tryin to install vista i couldn't find my hard disk it said
there were no mass storage drivers

and it gave me an option of load drivers

what does this mean?
is my hard drive dead ?

Sounds like you need to load some Sata drivers for your hard drive.
