Question HDD not detected? It was working last night.

Computer has been running for 5 months no problem.
Last night, I shutdown computer.
Today, I start computer.
Computer says "No boot device detected!"
I look into BIOS, and it's not detecting my HDD in the SATA list.

HDD Specs:
- Seagate Barracuda 500GB 32mb Cache 7200RPM SATA

I already tried different SATA and power cable to the HDD, but that did not
help.

Any suggestions???

Also, the HDD has a label titled Installation Summary, it says:
Quote:
3. ...If the drive is not detected, check the 1.5 GB jumper.
Anyone know what the jumper is all about?

Your help on this matter is much appreciated,

Thank you.

The only thing that jumper does is limit it to sata 1 speed. Can you feel the hard drive spin up as you turn your computer on? If not, then the drive is dead or you have a bad psu power connector.

Yes, the HDD still works - I can hear it turning when it's on.

The power supply and computer is fine. I hooked up a HDD from my other
computer and I'm running on that at the moment.

Issue resolved.

Problem: Bad firmware - SD15 on 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drives.

Summary:
- After stumbling about Seagate website for a couple days, I managed to pack and send my hard-drive to their i365 Data Recovery center.
- They requested not to use any peanuts or bubble-wrap, so I was clueless as to how to actually package my hard-drive. UPS Store packed it in a foam material they found lying around on the floor, it's the only other thing the lady working there could find. It worked - sent the package.
- Seagate paid for shipping to their center.
- Took about 3 days. They unstuck my hard-drive from the loop. Flashed new firmware onto my HDD. And sent it back to me.
- UPS came on Friday, missed me. I had to wait all weekend before UPS came back with my HDD.
- Hooked it up today. HDD is working, my files are still here.
