Default Underclocking Dell Inspiron 1525

Hi, I was wondering if there was a program or software to underclock my dell inspiron 1525. I would be grateful if anyone would be able to assist me in doing this task because my computer is overheating etc.

Intel or Amd processor? There should be an option in the bios. If it's Intel its called Speedstep, if its AMD its called cool n' quiet. Just make sure it's enabled.

Dont skimp on a power supply,if it fails, it usually takes out other components alongside it.

I would try pulling the heatsink and reapplying thermal paste then if the cpu is easily accessible in that notebook...

It's a setting in the bios. It may or may not be in there.
