Default Creative Fatal1ty Headset

Hey, I just picked up one of these today and I purchased the one for usb. Now when I installed it and restarted my pc, I could only hear sound from the headset and my speakers no longer worked. I need to find a way to get both to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Usually in whatever program you are running, you can go into audio settings and choose the output device (speakers or headset). This is currently how I control it on my computer...

afaik you cannot use both at the same time for music, but something like ingame voice chat in flight simulator X and similar you can pump voice audio through usb while other audio(engine sounds/etc) through speakers.

Dont skimp on a power supply,if it fails, it usually takes out other components alongside it.

Since USB headphones are a seperate device, not controlled by your sound card, your computer treats it as a second sound device. Your situation would be no different than say having two PCI sound cards. In Vista/7 you can go into playback devices and choose which is your primary device but AFAIK you can't output to two seperate sound devices. If the specific program allows you to change which sound device is used then you could theoretically hear game music through speakers and only player voices through your headset. An example of this would be to use speakers for your games and setup a Ventrilo server, Vent allows you to choose where it outputs the voices to so you could choose your headset even while Vista/7 still has the speakers as primary.

there shouldn't be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
