Question Takes long time to erase?

Hi, I have a DVD-RW IDE1008 burner that does not stop erasing. I have a dvd-rw disc that needs erased and only has like 1 ghg on it. I try to erase it on Active dvd eraser or Nero Burning Rom. I have clicked full erase and when I left it there for a while it still was not done. In active dvd eraser the bar just went up and up and up and all of a sudden it was at the top! But it went back down! I let it erase for like 6 hours! Never erased! The speed is maximum! I tryed all the others to, That didnt work!

1. You sure it is RW?

2. Have you erased before?

they only allow a certain number of erases, so you may have had one that has very few erases on it, just unlucky

Yes, I have erased before on that disc. On the cd case it said I can erase as many as I want like 100hundeds of thousands! I only erased a little bit like 3 times or more.

The disc likley have an issue CD/DVD-RWs are easily damaged. If your drive will erase other RWs then the disc is damaged. Clean the disc and if that doesn't work throw it away. Your only out .20 cents or so anyway.

I'd try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc. If that doesn't work replace the drive. Before you repalce the drive try the discs in another burner just to be sure though.
