Question 80+ processes running, what gives??? help :(

alright, so i've built a new rig, installed VISTA 64 ULTIMATE along with a heap of programs / games that i use and now i have approx 80 processes running when i do a fresh boot this is not cool

i have run CC Cleaner, spybot, adaware and come up with no major problems.
have also gone into msconfig (and the one in cc cleaner) and removed any programs i felt unecessary but still, have approx 80 processes. i even have 12 svchost running and no idea why.

here is a pic of windows task manager - can you see anything mega strange or suggest stuff that i don't need please???

It's best to Left Click on the "User Name" button to sort the processes.
I generally have 40 to 50 processes running at startup.

I see you have Norton, so don't expect to get around 40 or 50 like me,
but you should be able to get around 50 to 60 processes.

Don't be afraid to disable programs that you need and use in MSCONFIG,
as it only stops the program from running at startup. It does not disable
the program all together.

Go back into MSCONFIG and in the startup tab, you can safely uncheck
any box that has a "Command" location of "Program Files" EXCEPT your
Antivirus software.

Also under the Services tab, check the box to "Hide all Microsoft Services".
You can uncheck any box that doesn't have to do with your Video Drivers
or your Antivirus.

i just noticed that some of the processes are run twice, such as 'sidebar.exe' and 'crss.exe'. would that be due to dual monitors???? can't be, so why would they run twice

Thats normal!

Do you have an ipod? If not then disable the ipod service or get rid of itunes all together. Itunes is bloated big time. If you dont have a printer then disable the spooler service.
