Default Laptop monitor problem

Hello all,

This is my first post on here, and just to let you all know, I'm not computer savvy at all. I mean, I know how to do things on computers, but nothing that doesn't involved detailed instructions! lol.

So I just got a new laptop, it's an IBM T500. It's a sweet laptop thus far but I'm having the following problem. After I play the video game, the sims 3 (highly rec. btw ) when I exit the game, my computer screen looks much brighter and...i think the right word is "transparent" It's almost like the brightness got turned up a notch or two, but even when I adjust the brightness, the picture looks off.

I game quite a bit, and I know that when one exits certain games, the resolution gets a little screwy...and on old laptops i would just like close the laptop in order for the screen to go blank and sort of "snap back to normal", but in this case that isn't working.

Any ideas??

Thank you all!

It is probably related to your video driver settings. My settings are in such a fashion that when I'm in my normal activities it is darker, but when I run a game, the brightness goes up. If you're running an Ati card, use CCC to check/change your settings, if nVidia, the equivalent program. If you aren't running one of these brand cards, I'm not sure what else to offer, maybe some form of 3rd party program?

Hey Cardboard, thanks for your reply.

I have an ATI video card. Could you tell me where I would be able to adjust these setting in the CCC? Would I choose to do advanced or basic setting?

Thanks!!
