I've been connected wirelessly with my laptop and my desktop (using an adapter) with no problems at this chalet for about 3-4 days.
Last night, I switched off the laptops ability to detect networks with the little button on the side like I do sometimes. I turn it back on today and the laptop detects the network, but it doesn't connect to the internet. So I have limited connectivity. I rebooted about 3-4 times and the laptop still doesn't work. I'm currently connected wirelessly on this network with my desktop and it's working fine so that indicates that it is related to the laptop. At first I thought it might be a hardware issue, but the laptop detects the network in the list and it also detects surrounding networks, which means the wireless card is working. Any idea why I can't connect to the internet? Thanks!

I'd also like to add that it says "Unidentified Network" for the network I used to connect to, and it never said that. Usually I connect instantly, and now it takes much longer and stays stuck at "Identifying Network"... until it says "Unidentified Network" and gives me no Internet.
I clearly think it's a settings problem. The odd thing is I didn't change anything. Maybe switching off my Wifi last night messed something up. Hope this helps narrow the issue, any help is appreciated. Thanks! edit: Update #2 Alright, well I just looked at the current IP I'm using on my desktop and it's not the one that the laptop detects. It's like the laptop is using old network information. edit: Update #3 After a lot of research I've found out that this seems to be a common problem with Vista... oddly enough I've had the laptop for approx. 5 months and never experienced this. edit: Update #4 The laptop tries to auto connect to the "preferred 169.254.321.129 ip", which apparently is one of the default IP's Vista connects to when something is messed up. I didn't change anything in the IP v4 settings though, and it's still on obtain address auto. I didn't have any troubles using the network before that.

Ok, things I've tried.
1. netsh winsock reset 2. ipconfig /renew & /release 3. renaming the connection 4. rebooting / complete shut down 5. erasing the network from the list and re-entering the password 6. disabling ipv6 7. trying to put the info in ipv4 manually, although I'm not sure I did that correctly 8. turning off the firewall
