ya, not for gaming but u can still game pretty good, its b/c its an intel machine, i would look into getting amd if u can such as at alienware. how much is ur dad letting u spend?
why only a 40gig hdd? i got that in my laptop and i hate it b/c i need so much more space, at least get an 80 but the most common now is 120 and 160. and no dvd burner?

alienware is a good place for amd comps but i think ull need more $ for one of those. and ur dad wont let u build one? tell him to so that u can save a whole lot of money!

WOO, slow down there. Most people really would not notice a different in gaming between a amd and intel.

My saying it not for gaming had nothing to do with it being intel.

What I ment was the radeon x300SE sucks for gaming and he would need to choose a better video card if he wanted to game well.

well i did say that it could game pretty good and that amd would be better for gaming, which is true,i dont rly like intel performance latley tho, looking at the dual cores amd is now better than intel in gaming and mulitasking

and ya he does need a better vid card, at least a 6600gt or a x800

yah i agree might need a better video card. however the other stuff is actually pretty good. that is a nice processor. the 6xx has shown to perform better in certain aspects compared to the new duel core.

Yeah, I agree that the Radeon X300SE is too low for current games (anything high-end within the last year). I have a NVidia 6600 and it works great! So I'd recommend going with the 6800, as well as the nicer sound card (the one for an added $29 should be fine). Additionally, if you can afford the extra $30, definitely go for the bigger hard drive and DVD-writer (in that order). If you can go up to the 160gig, that would be best. Good luck, and don't worry, your Dell will be upgradable in the future, I did on mine!
