How is everyone doing? Here it goes, my mom's computer crashed or should I say the CPU burnt up! I have ordered and built her A new tower and need to get some pictures off of the old drive! I have installed the drive (IDE) and the computer does not see it! The old drive does still have the orig OS on it. Could that be the problem? How can I get into this drive and grab the pic's for her? I have gone into disk mangment and I see it but can not assign it A drive letter, when I right click on it all it gives me is A help option.

Hello,
Really tough to tell from this point, however you can try a live boot cd of sort that has a os running on it. From there you can plug in a flash drive or even burn a cd (If the live cd has burning software on it) and grab the data. A live cd should pick up the attached drive. You can find some free live linux distro's to try at: http://www.thefreecountry.com/operat...ibutions.shtml Good luck

I am by no means a expert here but, how is the drive jumpered? The computer might not 'see' it if it's not jumpered correctly.
Just a thought.
