Default Can't play dvd on computer

My project is to transfer my 8mm camcorder family videos to dvd. I have a dvd recorder so I played the tape on the camcorder and recorded on the dvd recorder using 3 input cables for video and audio. When I put the disk in the recorder it formats the disk and after transfer I finalized the disk. I tested the transfer by playing the dvd in the dvd player(the same one I used for the recording, the one that is hooked up to my tv). It worked great.

My problem is when I took that same disk and tried to play it in my laptop, it would not work. As a matter of fact when I went in to my computer to view the disc I could not display the files that were on the disc. It said empty. How can that be when I just played it on the TV. Thank you. Frank

PS. The disks say dvd+R, if that is info you need

there are certain codecs you may need (never mind what this means, just know you need em ).

Go here and download Isobuster.

It will show you what is on the disc, which sometimes windows won't . If there is something on the disc, find out the file type and post it here.

If there still says nothing, try to play another DVD through your computer and see if it can play that or atleast see the files on it

Thank you. I found the files using isobuster. They were located in a file folder named VIDEO(WITH IFO) to the left of it. When I clicked on this folder 2 more folders dropped down and my recordings were located in a folder named "+VR Video Recordings" and when I clicked on that folder the pane on the right showed my recorded files. The name was listed as:

Easter 2004.mpg.vob
NYC trip.mpg.vob

I hope I am giving you the info you need to help me with the next step.

PS. The second folder that dropped down was named VIDEO_TS but when I clicked on this one the pane on the right showed names like:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
