Default how long do they last

Excuse me guys, do you know how long the motors in HDs last, mine is starting to get weird noises lol

well not sure, varies on usage etc
but for hdd a term known as bathshape where at beginning unstable, then mid life stable thne becomes unstable after alot of usage.Hard to explain.

u can use hddhealth and sort of estimate when its gonna fail.

Most manufacturers warranty their hard drives for at least 3 years. Given normal usage, I'd say a good 5 years or so.

My current hard drive has been under pretty heavy usage for almost 7/8 years now, and it still works. Granted, it's coughing up blood, and it's making funny noises, but it still technically works.

The upgrade! My machine will soon be a 939 X2 4000+, 4x512 DDR400, and an 8600GTS.
