I was wondering how I could back up my DVD's to my hard drive. This is also partially a question about copy-protection.
I recently bought the AOA DVD Ripper because the Trial seemed to do a good job of getting good quality rips off my Arrested Development Season DVD's. I just bought the program, and am running into issues near the end of each episode (so far have only done 3) where the program stops ripping and crashes. I was able to edit one of the rips to end one second before the end and it managed to yield a good video. I am still trying with the others. I was able to get the videos off of the Special Features section, but am having a hard time with these last couple videos. I am asking if this sounds like a problem with the discs/ripper or if this is a problem with the copy-protection on the disc. I have no idea how copy protection works, so I thought I'd post something on here. I'm ripping these for completely legal purposes (at least I believe and hope so), I bought these DVDs and I'm just looking to watch them without switching all the discs. Thanks for any advice!

I think legally you can make one backup of your floppies/CDs/DVDs/bluray for personal use, but I'm not sure. I think in the Darksun (Reeaally old DOS game) manual it even said you should make a backup set of discs
Not sure if it's kosher with the rules of this forum or not though I'd rather not try and help unless TPTB says it's ok or not, sorry

If it's a copy protection thing we can't help you. I don't know if that's the case but if it is it usually says copy protected somewhere on the back of the box near the bottom.

Oh okay, I was just wondering where I would run into a problem if the discs were copy protected. I think I got the ripper to work, so if this thread is leaning against the forum rules, it can be deleted or locked. Thanks

IF it is copyright protected means you must not copy that. Go for another new one only.
