ESET Smart Security hands down imo. It has a built in firewall, virus scan and spyware detector. My computer has been infection free for over a year. I used to use Sygate Firewall with it when ESET used to just have NOD32, but Sygate was discontinued, and I imagine that's one of the reasons ESET upgraded their platform to a total security package as a lot of us were using Sygate in addition to NOD. Though something must be said for Commando Firewall, I just found it too bulky once I installed the ESET Smart Security package.

Dont skimp on a power supply,if it fails, it usually takes out other components alongside it.

I would say ESET's NOD32 Anti-Virus 4 for performance and resource usage. On the contrary it costs a good bit, but completely worth it. With NOD32 and a spy-ware program like Spybot running, you should be good to go. (In my own opinion)
