have you done anything hardware wise to your computer lately? it may just be coincidence that it happened when you did the update.

no, I haven't done anything but update WMP and then lost all sound.I'm not an expert ,so I don't know if I am on the right track but I went to device manager and tried to re-install a sound driver.I got this message; the driver for this device may be bad or your system man be running low on memory or other resources code 3. I follow the steps to update the driver ,It then tells me the best driver windows found is already installed.Any ideas? thanks jim

Try seeing if you can find drivers for your sound card somewhere, even if it says that its working properly, most of the time Windows is wrong when trying to diagnose itself... These two websites usually have something...

We'll keep trying

I have windows 98.I can't find a system restore in system tools. Do I have to use the disc that came with the computer initially? Is it complicated to do this? thanks Jim
