754 was supposed to be being phased out, i dont know if they decided to stick with that or not, 939 supports dual channel memory and is basically the best for future upgrading, so i would go with 939 myself..

No new models of athlon 64 will come out for skt 754 in the future. It not completly phased out yet because they still coming out with new semprons models for it.

Some time in the future according to lots of sorces but not 100% confirm is that both skt 754 and skt 939 going to be phased out some time in 2006. They both will be replaced with skt M2. All athlon 64/x2/fx/, semprons and optrons 100 will be on the skt M2. There will be a anouther new skt F for all other optrons.

Again this is not 100% for certain yet but it is what a few places are saying going to happen.

Just go with the 939 socket. Its the newest, and good for future upgrades like LittleHoov said.

Ironically enough S939 is semi-out too in favor of M2 which will prolly debut next year
