I've always stuck to Seagate and Western Digital and have had no problems whatsoever.

TONS of problems with my Maxtor 30 and 40 gigs, so I'm totally aginst them. I'm running Western Digital Raptors now, and also have a Seagate as my external drive. Both have been good so far

Raptors are pretty much the nest harddrives you can get.

I tend to stick to Western Digital...just look at the warranty period and get one with a three year or better warranty.

I just got a new Maxtor SATA drive that I'm pretty satisfied with (I don't know how durable it is, we'll find out in a few months ). It was pretty easy to install; the program that came with it was even thorough enough to transfer all the data off've my old drive.
