Default When turning on HL2 on a newly built comp

it just restarts itself, when its at the loading screen for HL2, the comp just restarts its self, why is that? and there was no blue screen of death or an error message

happens sometimes for me too, might be the cpu burning already LOL try check the temp.

i ran the taskmanager when loading the game and pretty much everything is working 100%

i think i put on enough thermal paste.... cuz i asked my friend and he said u might not put on enough but i think i did....

Sounds as though you may have put on a bit too much. Too much thermal grease and your CPU will over heat also.

i put on enough, just a thin layer, could it be a harddrive error? like a gay harddrive? previously i tried to install this hard drive as a slave storage, and now its a single master, and when the comp restarted I check the temp right after and its 50 C

Gay HDD? I doubt it's a HDD problem. Most likely, you have heat issues. What are your system temps?

Case 38C, CPU 42C idle , dont know how yet to check in game, it restarts to quick

P4 3.2ghz Prescott, 1gig Crosair Value Select PC3200, XFX 6600GT, Maxtor Diamond 10 ATA 133, Stock 420W PSU, ECI 848P-A, could it be the MOBO? or a Mobo and Ram Compatiblity error?
