Default Motherboard Comparison

Would appreciate some knowledgeable expert help.

Just got a desktop and am trying to determine it's equivalent family (version) to Pentium (P4,P3...P1,486,386 etc.).

I am no expert but did find that the motherboard is an ASUS A7A-266 Bios Revision 1006. System information states that it has an AMD Athlon(tm) 1200 MHz Processor. It also has something called a "south bridge" ALI M1535O(orD?)+A1. I know that it can take either DDR (2 banks) or SDRAM (3 banks). Right now, it has 2 sticks of PC100, 100MHz totaling 128MB. I understand I could easily put more in more memory (Up to three PC133-133MHz or up to two PC2100-266 sticks). Not sure on how many MBs of each for maximum (maybe 2GBs for DDR and 3 GBs for SDRAM). Would like to know that too.

Many thanks.
