Default what AMD 64 is comparable to a 3.6 Intel?

a friend of mine wants to get a socket LGA775 3.6ghz Intel for like over 400 bucks, hes wanting to build a gaming rig...i told him he should go with an AMD instead...what AMD is comparable to that processor? im sure the AMD is cheaper too, i had trouble finding any cpu benchmarks that did me any good..

thanks in advance guys...and gals(though few)
